THE PIGGERY, ESCALLS

The Piggery at Escalls is a gorgeous detached conversion of an old farm building designed with incredible style and attention to detail.

The epitome of the saying “all good things come in small packages” The Piggery ticks so many boxes and this lovely little retreat is the ideal spot for an escape to the far west. There is a parking space right outside and from the front door it’s only a ten-minute walk down to one of our finest local beaches at Gwenver. Through the garden gate you are led to a private courtyard, a perfect spot for a sundowner after a day’s surfing or a morning coffee planning the day’s outings.

Entering The Piggery through the French doors you come into the open plan living area which is flooded with light and has everything you need for a perfect base from which to enjoy your Cornish break. The cleverly thought-out space has an area to eat, an open plan kitchenette and a comfy sofa to relax on in front of the cutest little wood burner. Through to the bedroom and there is a king size bed and a further door through to the luxury en suite shower room.

LOCATION

Escalls is a small hamlet situated five minutes from Sennen Cove which was recently featured in the Times “top five beaches in the UK”. It’s a special location set above the coastal path and you can walk to Gwenver, known locally as one of the best surfing spots in the county. If you are looking for a break to unwind, walking down to the beach to watch the breakers roll in, is a sure antidote on this unspoilt stretch of coast.

From the front door you cut down the farm track, known locally as the 'Fairy Lanes', which in a few minutes, leads to the top of the cliffs between Sennen and Gwenver beaches. It’s an amazing viewing spot high above the Atlantic and from here the unmarked paths lead down to the coastal path and beach. For shopping the local market town of St Just is under 10 minutes away and is a UNESCO world heritage site due to its rich mining history. Here you will find an array of great local shops: a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small local supermarket for your everyday needs. Surrounding Escalls are the most spectacular stretches of coastline and fantastic moorland walks from the doorstep. Further afield in the wider West Cornwall the popular towns of Penzance, St Ives, Marazion and Mousehole are all an easy drive away.

LIVING

This characterful and stylish space has a bijou living area with a comfy two-seater sofa in front of a wood burning stove and to the side a wall mounted flat screen TV.

COOKING & EATING

The built-in kitchen is more like a kitchenette but has everything you need to cook a meal with a fridge, integrated combi microwave/oven/grill, sink and a single moveable hob plate. Between the living area and kitchen is a breakfast bar with two bar chairs.

SLEEPING

Through the kitchen area a door leads to the bedroom with a comfortable king size bed dressed in good quality linen with bath towels provided. There is shelving behind the bed, storage under the bed and open hanging hooks on the opposite wall. There is a glass door which opens to the outside and means you can enjoy the sea air while sitting in bed with your morning tea.

BATHING

Through the bedroom is a stunning modern shower room with a large shower enclosure and rain shower.

OUTSIDE

The Piggery is one side of a large courtyard shared with Manor Farm and there is a private parking space by your garden gate. This leads to a cute courtyard with a bistro table and two chairs.
