THE WOOCUTTER'S CABIN, PENZANCE
Experience country living at its very best from this dog friendly rustic cabin located between St Ives and Penzance with the numerous beaches and villages of west Cornwall all in easy reach. The Woodcutter's Cabin offers comfortable open plan accommodation with all creature comforts taken care of and a stunning private veranda overlooking beautiful gardens. There is even a unique outside bath where you can soak away overlooking the enchanting gardens or at night looking up at the star-filled skies.
Painstakingly built by local craftsmen using wood from trees in the grounds, from our first visit we completely fell in love with the Woodcutter’s Cabin. If you're looking for a rural retreat off the beaten track surrounded by nature we couldn't think of anything more perfect. This truly unique property has a spacious open plan interior that is entirely bespoke, with its handmade kitchen and a stunning driftwood bed to curl up in after a day exploring this magical part of West Cornwall. The living area has a wood burning stove to keep you toasty and French doors lead out to the decked terrace overlooking the exquisite gardens.
Outside in the gardens, there are numerous areas to enjoy, including a sitting area at the very back where you can catch glimpses of the sea in the distance. It’s a nature lover’s paradise awash with wildlife, including visiting badgers and foxes and resident shrews, rabbits, frogs, buzzards and owls. The gardens really are a delight and if you’re bringing your four-legged friend they will be in doggie heaven (pets allowed anytime outside July and August). There are almost three acres of grounds shared only with Martin and Caroline, the lovely owners of neighbouring Primrose Cottage. Treat all the grounds as your own and there is a near acre directly outside the cabin that pretty much private to you.
If it’s seclusion away from the everyday hectic world you’re looking for then you may well have found your perfect holiday…
LOCATION
The Boskednan area of New Mill is a collection of beautiful cottages, all private from one another, nestling in the hidden shelter of a stream-fed valley where gunnera (the fairy tale giant rhubarb like plant) reaches up, casting its gentle green tinge to all below it. Although you will feel lost in idyllic countryside it is a ten-minute drive to Penzance or a little further to Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount. The Woodcutter's Cabin is pretty much equidistant from the north and south coasts. While it's inland you could easily walk the 4kms to the north coast, and you can spot the south coast between the trees.
LIVING
The cosy living area is centred on the large wood burner and it's a wonderful place to relax in with a large comfy sofa and armchair. There is a 40-inch flat screen TV. It's internet ready with Freesat and access to Netflix and iPlayer.
COOKING & EATING
The hand-built wood and slate kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast together with a Bosch electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There are a table and chairs perfectly positioned to enjoy your meals looking out of the French doors into the gardens.

OUTSIDE
The term garden hardly does justice to the extensive outside space at the Woodcutter’s Cabin with peace and quiet guaranteed. Directly outside the cabin is almost an acre for your private use which includes a sitting area and at the far corner a spot where you can glimpse the sea in the distance. The outside terrace has two steamer sun loungers and a bistro table and chairs for lazy breakfasts. If you’re a nature lover the grounds are filled with many rare specimen plants and shrubs and they are surrounded by wild countryside with breathtaking walks in every direction.

“We absolutely adored our stay at the cabin. The space, inside and out, was beautiful and so well and thoughtfully designed. It was warm and cosy, well equipped and set in a peaceful and magical location. The weather was unbelievably wet and windswept but the gardens and the land is west Cornwall was still utterly glorious. We were very sad to leave….. Many thanks.”
