LOCATION

The whole town of St Just is a UNESCO world heritage site and surrounded by wild moors and dramatic coastline. If feeling energetic try exploring the stunning Tinner’s Way running along the coast from Cape Cornwall all the way to St Ives. It’s an ancient route from the Bronze Age and where the tin and copper ore were transported along the way from St Just to Hayle.

St Just is a friendly town that feels lost in time with an array of great local shops, a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small local supermarket for your everyday needs. Surrounding the town are the most spectacular stretches of coastline and fantastic walks from the doorstep. Sennen Cove with its glorious surfing beach is ten minutes away as is Portheras Cove, a hidden and stunning local’s cove. Travelling further east within twenty minutes you can be in Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Mousehole and Penzance.

LIVING

The cottage has a light and airy feel throughout. The second living room to the rear of the cottage has a large TV and is stylishly furnished with a three-seater sofa and two pouffes to relax. Ideal for movie nights or some games together.

To the front of the cottage is the cosy living room which centres around the original clock and wood burner (in the season we will leave you enough logs to get you going for a night or two). Relax after a day exploring on the comfortable three-seater chaise sofa and armchair (the chaise seat can be used as an additional seat instead, as required). There is a large wall-mounted TV.

COOKING & EATING

The kitchen at Penrose Cottage is fabulous and equipped with everything you need to cook up a feast. Overlooking and leading onto the paved garden and opening up to the utility area and the dining room, it’s a social space that ensures you can welcome the whole family to dinner.

The dining table seats up to eight comfortably and the open nature of the kitchen and dining room allows conversations to flow all evening long. On that note, if you would like a special event catered for, please ask as we have some fantastic local contacts.

In the second living area is a second kitchen area, again for those that are looking for some privacy within the family holiday or use as required for those big dinners with an oven and hob, under the counter fridge with a freezer compartment, microwave and a washing machine plus the all-important coffee machine for your all morning cuppa.

WHAT GUESTS ARE SAYING...

“This place was perfect for our family of three couples and an infant. It exceeded expectations! We spent very pleasant evenings around the dining room table and cooked some great meals in the well-equipped kitchen. We particularly appreciated the number of dishes, mugs and glasses, quality of cookware and the seemingly endless supply of coffee pods. The welcome gift of milk in the fridge, coffee, cookies and fresh flowers was very thoughtful. The separate wing with its larger living room turned out to be an unexpected bonus, becoming a favourite morning gathering place for the early risers and the baby, allowing others to sleep in without disturbance. St. Just is a charming town and a good location from which to explore the area. The cottage is very close to the town square and a quick walk to the shops, cafes and pubs. We would definitely stay here again!!!”

Joanna – October 2024

“Great place and location for this part of Cornwall. St just is really nice with plenty of pubs, cafes and shops access to costal walks. Accommodation was brilliant, clean and really spacious and private. Couldn’t fault it. The Cornish Way were helpful and always responsive to any questions. Highly recommend.”

Michael – August 2024

“What a little gem, this property was absolutely perfect for our family holiday to Cornwall - 6 Adults, 2 toddlers, a young baby and two Golden Retrievers. The location was great for all the places we wanted to visit. The property was spacious and beautifully furnished, recently renovated to a very high standard with a well-equipped kitchen and luxurious bathrooms. The welcome gift was very much appreciated - coffee & biscuits plus teabags & sugar for our arrival - we especially loved the neat hand soap in bathrooms. Alfie’s barn was an additional bonus as us (the Grandparents) got a little peace & quiet and a lie in of a morning!!!! Would definitely return highly recommend.”

Ian & Melanie – July 2024
