This area is in so many ways untouched by modern life and the far west is much loved for its untamed raw beauty. Hendra Cottage takes in so much of what this magical place has to offer. From the crashing waves of the Atlantic, the dramatic cliffs, stretches of golden sand and some of the best surfing in Cornwall, it’s all in easy reach from this gorgeous property.
LOCATION
Hendra is a small hamlet set high above the coast path between Sennen and Cape Cornwall and this hidden part of the Far West of Cornwall is an area just waiting to be explored. From the myth and legend of Land's End, the golden sands of Sennen and Gwenver beaches and their popular surf breaks you're spoilt for choice. The idyllic fishing coves of Mousehole, Zennor and Lamorna are all close by and Porthcurno, Gwenver, Marazion and Praa Sands are all a short drive away and offer some of the finest swimming waters in the county. The South West coast path can be accessed in a short walk from the house. If you’re feeling energetic you can even walk all the way to Sennen which is also only a short drive away.
Venturing further the local town of St Just is under ten minutes away and feels lost in time. It’s an attractive town and a UNESCO world heritage site due to its rich mining history. There are various independent shops, four pubs, butchers, a deli and a Co-Op supermarket. Further afield the popular towns of Penzance, St Ives and Mousehole are all easily accessible as well as numerous beaches and coves dotted around West Cornwall.
LIVING
Not many places have the wow factor like this one does. With the help of local designer Camilla Interiors every element has been thoughtfully dressed, with perfectly complementing elements. From the carefully selected palette of hues to the contrasting deep blues and warming mustard yellows, this property oozes luxury touches throughout.
The living room is the heart of the home. With three large sumptuous sofas and a wood burning stove to keep you toasty on cooler evenings, it is the perfect spot for evenings in with a book or cuddled up watching a film on the wall mounted TV. The separate snug room is a great pad for children and adults alike to escape the hubbub of holiday life, to watch a film on the Blu-Ray DVD player, or play games. On sunny days, the living room creates a great shady escape with sliding doors opening onto the decked terrace. Where better to kick back and take in one of the most breathtaking views across the Atlantic.
COOKING & EATING
The kitchen and dining spaces are fit for celebrations. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons and retains a country kitchen style through the bespoke tiling and soft sage cabinets. There are five gas hobs as well as a wok hob, wine fridge, double sink and double electric oven, plus much more. The light from the large windows coming in is the perfect place to relax and cook up that feast there isn’t time for at home. “We had a lovely time thank you. We loved the house. It was so tranquil. I could have looked at the view all day. The little hares that live in the garden, were so lovely to watch. The house was very clean and very well equipped. I was very impressed with your customer service. You reply promptly and I liked that as soon as we paid the balance, we got the information for the house and the other information on West Cornwall was very useful. I have already recommended you to a Grandparent at school, looking for a holiday rental.”
