NEW FORGE, GWENVER
This spacious and relaxing barn conversion offers you a wonderful rural location to explore the west, minutes from the coastal footpath and walking distance down to the stunning golden sands at Gwenver beach. You'll love coming home to your peaceful and private garden, or light the wood burner to relax and unwind at the end of the day.
Enjoy great country views from the huge bed upstairs listening to the distant sound of the sea. New Forge is away from it all providing comfort and space for a romantic escape, or a family holiday at any time of year.
Built in 2010, the architect's brief for New Forge was to create a quietly luxurious family home where everyone can be together, yet have their own private space. The thoughtfully styled and beautifully furnished open living and dining areas are spacious and homely and the kitchen. It is all about comfort here, throughout the year, with an impressive library of books, reflecting its owners' love of design to inspire the designer in you.
Sleeping four, plus one, the secret third bedroom has proven an instant hit with children and has been christened The Cabin.
LOCATION
Perfectly located in the quiet and secluded hamlet of Tregiffian, a ten-minute walk to Gwenver beach, New Forge is private and away from it all, yet places are within easy reach for exploring further afield. With so many attractions in the Far West it is a great place to explore from and return to.
This cottage is just a short walk from the beautiful surfing beach of Gwenver, which is a quieter beach around the corner from popular Sennen Cove. The busy towns of St Ives and Penzance are both a short drive, and some of the best beaches in the country are nearby.
It's designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and makes an amazing location for family holidays or romantic breaks all year round.
The mining areas of Cornwall are UNESCO World Heritage sites and offer an insight into the life of our ancestors.
This countryside inspired such authors as Daphne Dumorier, Rosemund Pilcher and more recently Patrick Gale. The art colonies nearby are famous from such greats as Barbara Helpworth, Stanhope Forbes and even Mark Rothko.
LIVING
The wonderful open living space at New Forge offers cooking, dining and living in a simply divided 45' long room that's so well-proportioned you'll feel a sense of calm as soon as you step through the door. Sumptuous sofas and a fantastic wood burning stove will make the decision to go out in the evening a difficult one! With French windows to allow the sea breeze to drift through in the warmer months it is comfortable all year round with the wood burner and underfloor heating to keep you cosy.

WHAT GUESTS ARE SAYING...
“Really enjoyed our stay. Great location for dog walks on the beach.”
Nicholas – November 2024
“New Forge is fantastically located and wonderfully equipped. We were greeted with a fresh bouquet of flowers and this attention to detail can also be found in the decor, which is the helpful information folder or comprehensive literature, music and film library - which we unfortunately could not use at all thanks to the great weather. We felt at home with our two children from the first minute. Very nice and helpful neighbours, the nearby beach and the quick accessibility of many attractions (St. Ives, Lizard Peninsula, Minack Theatre, etc.) complete the great overall impression of the cottage.”
Britta – June 2024
“We had a great week at New Forge. It was the perfect place to explore the region from, being close to some gorgeous beaches as well as Lands End, etc. It was also the perfect cosy house to come back to after a wet and windy hike, have a hot shower and light the fire. Well equipped, felt homely and comfortable. Highly recommend, and hope to return.”
Kash – April 2024
